Newspaper article from HitchTom
A Victorian man who works as a nuclear scientist in Canada has gone missing.
I assume he's dead by now if he was living in the 19th century?

There is nothing, abolutely nothing, half so worth doing as simply messing around in boats

That once-per-26,000 years is interesting...that's the time it takes the poles to do a complete circle in their "precession" (think of earth spinning like a top, and the North pole slowly tracing out a circle in the sky).

They could be on to something. On the other hand they might just want to be sure to get the phrase "Brown dwarf" into the public collective psyche for electoral purposes (the Sun is a Tory paper).

Mrs. Door pronounces 'gordon brown' like 'golden brown' , which makes me think of this

Gordon brown texture like sun
Lays me down with my mind she runs
Throughout the night
No need to fight
Never a frown with gordon brown

Every time just like the last
On her ship tied to the mast
To distant lands
Takes both my hands
Never a frown with golden brown

Gordon brown finer temptress
Through the ages she's heading

West
From far away
Stays for a day
Never a frown with gordon brown

Never a frown
With gordon brown
Never a frown
With gordon brown

Kinder Surprise eggs make me paranoid... After all, you never know what might hatch out. And think of the large plastic chickens which lay all those eggs! Perhaps they are seeking world domination...

Nice day for it though.

Your spouse or significant other is the most likely person to murder you. Swimming pools are more dangerous than handguns. Diabetes will kill more people than influenza. Baked beans on sale today were left-over from 1980s nuclear fallout shelter stockpiles. Perhaps one in every hundred people is a for real psychopath. Everything is in a constant state of flux. Your decisions did not matter. You may have less control over your life than you believe, despite your best efforts. Your quiet self-confidence in your own abilities may actually be naive hubris. You may be despised by people you like and respect, yet they politely tolerate you. That lump may be harmless, but then again it may not be.

Just off the top of my head like...
