Here is somewhere you hat lovers might like to visit. In fact, I think it should be on the official Idle Day Out list...if such a list exists.
It's a Hat Museum.

Looks good. I spent Saturday afternoon rummaging round Vintage Clothes shops in Bath looking for a 70's dress for my mate who is going to a fancy dress party next weekend. We didn't find anything she liked but I've never seen so many Trilbys and Tophats and all manner of other types of hats in such a short space of time before.

I did that once but I carried on wearing it even though it was too tight and gave me a headache. Anyway, it got mislaid so I had to buy a new one.

Evidently, I, too, am a hat-magnet. Stocking caps, baseball caps, fedoras, winter "trooper" hats with earlaps for cold days,a porkpie, a beret, a 'stingy-brim', even a couple "Mao" caps; when I moved into my current apartment, the previous tenant left behind a cowboy hat which actually fit me (I have a large hat size). I even have hats that I don't even know the name of. And yet, I can never remember telling myself, "Oh, I really must go and buy a hat". What's really eerie is that the Governor of the state when I was born was named....Hatfield! organ sting]

Why don't you pass the time by playing a little solitaire?

Since starting this thread, I've seen dozens of hat-wearers, included someone who looked a lot like a Mafia boss. And I saw a Mr Livered look-alike sporting a fedora!

Hats are wonderful. They increase comfort and the feeling of being in one's own little world. I usually sport a green commie-cap style thingy, I'm not sure quite what you'd call it but it's a less elaborate take on the baseball cap. Primarily worn to both cover the semi-bald patch and avoid unpleasant hair control precautions.

But with regards to sunglasses, I'll take them over a hat any day of the week, the things are truly perfection. A well-fitting pair of mirror aviators are perhaps the pinnacle of human sartorial endeavour.

I do always remember a comedian making the point that a man such as myself, wearing a hat, sunglasses and with a full beard looked insecure by having taken the maximum possible precaution against someone adding graffiti to a photo taken of me... so it's hat or sunnies, and never the twain shall meet.
