By the way, Harpo, when did Branca play in Sheffield? I used to live there, I'd be gutted if I'd missed him during that time. Went all the way to London to see Hallucination City at the Roundhouse.

Sometime in the early 90s, I think. It was at The Leadmill, where I also saw Suicide play in 1988.
Meanwhile, in 1992 I saw Jad Fair play in Leeds, and he performed this song, which has been a favourite ever since.

Oh that's alright then, long before my days in the steel city. Used to work the bar at the Leadmill, oddly enough.

Lazy Daisey--- In 1975 I was in hiGh school and seen Maria Mulduar at Jersey City Roosevelt Stadium N.J.
She was a warmup for Seals +Crofts and America. America cancelled the last second due to illness.People took it out on Maria and booed and cursed her. She sang 2 songs and said goodnight N.J. while giving them the finger. I did not blame her, I was ashamed to be at that concert. Anyway I did not get to hear the guitar solo in Midnight At The Oasis. But you brought back some good memories of some of my old friends. Thanks

One of the very best solos from recent years - sounds simple, deceptively difficult!

US stoner rock par excellence

Paul Weller very underrated as a soloist - always liked this one, very influenced by Wilko Johnson

Not a fan at all of technical show offery - I like simple, understated, economy of notes "Music is the empty space between the notes" etc. And I love players who don't really try to solo - the anti-solo!

Pixies - not a solo as such, but the refrain from 0.40 is great and then again at 1.20 onwards is perfect
